Add some G-BOMBS to your diet

Healthy people get stuff done. We are focused. We have good energy. We are productive.

A huge, huge part of being healthy and feeling great depends on the food you put in your body. If you feel bad after eating – you’re tired, acidic, foggy – that’s your body’s way of telling you that something is not right. If this is happening to you, track what you eat and how you feel after eating for a week or so, and then start experimenting to isolate the variables.

Are your symptoms from:

  • What you’re eating?
  • The amount you’re eating?
  • The combination of what you’re eating?
  • The time of day?
  • Eating while multi-tasking?

Change one variable at a time using your gut for where to start and as you experiment track the results.

If you’re looking for ideas on ways to experiment with food, I love this suggestion from Dr. Fuhrman who was a guest this week in the Food Revolution Summit. Dr. Fuhrman is a cancer doc who deeply believes that what you eat profoundly affects not just how you feel after each meal, but has long-term impacts on your overall health and longevity.

To stay healthy and even recover your health if you’re already sick, he recommends including G-BOMBS everyday in your diet. What are G-BOMBS?

  • Greens (raw)
  • Beans
  • Onions (this group includes all types of onions + garlic)
  • Mushrooms (cooked!)
  • Berries
  • Seeds

Here’s the full list with a lot more detail. Most of these you can combine into one really awesome salad each day.

There’s two big benefits to adding foods from this list. One is that they are all great at boosting your immunity which helps in the short-term, and in the long-term against heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. The second is that when you add these, you have to bump something else out of your diet – perhaps meats, cheeses, prepared foods, or fast food? That’s a bonus :).

The Food Revolution Summit runs through Saturday. It’s three hours a day, free, online, and you can listen anytime. I wait until their regular broadcast is over (11-2:00 EDT). The replays are available for free for 21 hours after the broadcast wraps up and with the replays you can skip any annoying parts or speakers who have a message that doesn’t resonate with you. The Summit runs for 8 days once a year. I never miss it.
