I’ve learned over the years from so many guides. Here are a few I check in with on a regular basis.
Seth Godin – Seth blogs almost daily with great advice on marketing and life. Reading this blog is what got me to self-publish a novel.
Leo Babauta – Zen Habits – Leo blogs about innovative and inspiring ways to change your habits. Leo’s advice to do what you love first thing in the day is what got my novel written. See above!
Getting Things Done by David Allen – David’s ideas on how to waste less time and get more done are a big part of what got me started on an organizational path.
FastCompany – Fast Company publishes terrific on-line articles on business, innovation, and so much more. I love the content and the writing. I can’t believe they offer so much content for free.
Pema Chodron – Pema is an incredibly wise and funny Buddhist nun with an A+ take on life. The above is a YouTube link to a large volume of work from Pema. She also writes terrific books that can help shape how you see the world.
The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg – This is one of my favorite books for explaining why we do what we do. It’s well-written and is filled with excellent case studies that stick with you.
The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo – This is a book I did not want to read. Then I read it and did not want to like it. I loved it. It inspired me to straighten out the last few cluttered closets and drawers in my house. It really is kind of magic 🙂
Mind Over Medicine by Lissa Rankin – This is a terrific book about finding balance in your life and being healthy. Lissa’s work got me started with meditation. I also love her exercises on ways to prioritize your life.
The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron – If you’re pondering big projects in your life, Julia offers a ton of great exercises to help you get back to your “why”. I loved reading this book with a group of friends. The exercises are a great way to learn about others AND about yourself.
